Responsibilities

• Manage annual benefits renewals and administration, including 401(k).
• Maintain policies and employment practices for a multi-state contractor; coordinate audits and reporting.
• Implement process improvements for HR tools and workflows; develop workforce metrics for leadership.
• Lead two HR staff and coach managers on policy interpretation and development.
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition from offer through onboarding and work with Finance, Operations, and IT.

Salary: $140K plus D.O.E.

Our client, a growing, multi-state government contractor, is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations, manage a two-person team, and partner directly with executive leadership. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen employee programs, improve systems, and turn outdated processes into practical, consistent ways of working.

You'll own day-to-day HR while helping the organization prepare for continued growth. Success requires sound judgment, comfort handling sensitive employee matters, and the initiative to identify problems and implement solutions.

What you'll lead

• HR operations: Oversee onboarding, employee relations, investigations, leave administration, performance management, compensation reviews, and separations.
• Benefits: Manage annual renewals and ongoing administration, including the company's 401(k) plan.
• Compliance: Maintain policies, records, and employment practices supporting a multi-state government contractor; coordinate HR audits and required reporting.
• Systems and process improvements: Optimize ADP Workforce Now and related HR tools, improve workflows, and develop useful workforce metrics for leadership.
• Team and management support: Lead two HR staff members and advise managers on coaching, performance concerns, policy interpretation, and employee development.
• Cross-functional coordination: Partner with Talent Acquisition on the transition from offer acceptance through onboarding and work closely with Finance, Operations, and IT.

What you'll bring

• Five or more years of progressive HR management experience, including experience with a government contractor.
• Experience supporting a multi-state workforce and managing broad HR responsibilities.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.
• A track record of improving HR policies, processes, or technology.
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment requirements.
• Clear communication, practical problem-solving skills, and the confidence to recommend changes while building productive working relationships.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred. Experience with HR dashboards, electronic onboarding, electronic I-9 systems, and background screening platforms is also valued.
