Our client is seeking a versatile, highly organizedd Human Resources/Accounting Generalist to join our team. In this dual-function role, you will bridge the gap between people operations and financial management. You will manage full-cycle payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, and day-to-day accounting functions like accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong analytical skills, and maintains the highest standards of confidentiality.
Human Resources & Payroll (Approx. 60%)
- Payroll Management: Process bi-weekly payroll accurately, managing timecards, tracking PTO, and resolving any wage or tax discrepancies.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee open enrollment, manage health insurance plans, process 401(k) contributions, and answer employee benefit questions.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Facilitate recruitment scheduling, conduct new-hire orientations, run background checks, and handle exit documentation
- Compliance & Records: Maintain digital employee files, ensuring strict compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, OSHA)
- Culture & Communication: Act as an accessible point of contact for daily staff inquiries and assist in organizing company team-building events.
Accounting & Finance (Approx. 40%)
- Accounts Payable (AP): Review, code, and enter vendor invoices, route them for internal approval, and schedule payments.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Generate and send client invoices, monitor aging reports, and follow up on overdue collections.
- Reconciliations: Perform with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure general ledger accuracy.
- Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports, checking for receipts and policy compliance.
- Audit & Reporting Support: Assist leadership and our accounting team with month-end closing, prepare basic financial reports, and pull documentation for annual tax or audit filings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent working experience)
- Experience: 4 years of proven experience handling both payroll/HR administration and bookkeeping or accounting tasks.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, formulas, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Familiarity with HRIS/Payroll platforms (DP, BambooHR)
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding basic accounting principles (GAAP) and fundamental labor standards.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong time-management habits to balance dual priorities, and absolute discretion regarding sensitive personal and financial data.
