Summary of Position
The Human Resources Manager is a key member of the HR team responsible for overseeing and delivering high‑quality support across multiple HR functional areas. This role has a strong focus on employee relations, HR compliance, policy administration, performance management, total rewards, and day‑to‑ operational excellence. The HR Manager acts as a trusted advisor to managers and team members, helping to foster a fair, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace. The also supervises the Human Resources Assistant, providing coaching, direction, workload prioritization, and development.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance, coaching, and support
- Conduct workplace investigations, document findings, and make recommendations
- Partner with leaders on conflict resolution, corrective action, and performance improvement
- Ensure consistent application of policies
- Identify trends and recommend proactive strategies
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
- Support in managing the annual performance review cycle and goal‑setting processes
- Support managers in delivering feedback and coaching
- Oversee Performance Improvement/Alignment Plans
- Partner on succession planning and development activities
HR COMPLIANCE & POLICY ADMINISTRATION
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and policies
- Oversee postings, audit practices, and recordkeeping
- Provide oversight of workers’ comp, leave administration, and accommodations
COMPENSATION & JOB CLASSIFICATION
- Support compensation benchmarking, job evaluation, and adjustments
- Maintain job descriptions
HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS & HRIS
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of HRIS data
- Utilize HR metrics to inform decisions
- Support configuration and updating of HRIS system
TRAINING, CULTURE, & ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT
- Support and lead training programs
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace
- Support in change management and engagement initiatives
LEADERSHIP
- Develop SOPs for human resources
- Foster a collaborative human resources team environment
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 7 years of human resources experience, with minimum of three years in a human resources manager role
- Experience with California employee population
- Experience with supporting employees and leaders across multiple locations and complex environments
- Experience with optimizing and implementing HRIS
- Degree in human resources or related field preferred
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong expertise in employee relations
- Knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for operating computer keyboards and office equipment.
- Vision abilities such as close vision and the ability to adjust focus for tasks such as reading documents and viewing computer screens.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally for short distances when moving office supplies or equipment.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to access files or materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
