Job summary

Zekelman Industries is hiring for a Human Resources role at our Plymouth, MI site. You will manage recruitment, onboarding, performance, and policy implementation to support plant operations.

The role partners with management and unions, ensuring compliant HR practices, workforce planning, and data-driven reporting. A senior HR generalist mindset with manufacturing exposure is ideal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related field; HR is preferred.
• 5+ years in a human resources role, manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with HRIS systems; ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads and promotes safe work practices per regulations and policy.
• Administers compensation, benefits, and performance systems for plant teammates.
• Identifies staff vacancies and collaborates with managers for candidate selection.
• Conducts new employee orientation.
• Monitors compliance with leaves (FMLA, USERRA, ADA).
• Partners with union committees to manage labor relations and contracts.
• Assists with understaffing, disputes, and discipline procedures.
• Analyzes training needs; drafts development plans for salaried/hourly staff.
• Uses HR data and IT tools to enhance reporting.
• Organizes culture-enhancing events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Serves as a link between management and employees to boost positive work environment and ensure smooth operation of HR processes across the organization.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESLeads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.Administers compensation, benefits, and performance management systems programs for all teammates at the plant.Identifies staff vacancies and collaborates with managers/talent acquisition team for candidate selection.Conducts new employee orientation.Monitors compliance with all state and federally mandated leaves of absences/accommodation policies and programs (FMLA, USERRA, ADA).Partners with union bargaining committees to help manage labor relations and contract administration.Assists with understaffing, managing disputes, and administering disciplinary procedures.Analyzes training needs and drafts salaried and hourly HR-related employee development plans.Leverages existing/available technologies and data to enhance HR data and reporting through the IT department.Organizes culture-enhancing events.Performs other duties as they might be assigned.Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role (check with HR/Comp when to include)EDUCATION / EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in a business-related field, Human Resources is preferred.5+ year experience in human resources role, manufacturing industry preferred.
