Job summary

Zekelman Industries in Tennessee seeks a Plant Operator to set up and run high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to exact dimensions. You will follow safety rules and report quality issues.

This role requires a high school diploma, ability to read and write English, and basic math; experience in manufacturing and with measurement tools is preferred. You will maintain tooling and assist maintenance, with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to spec.
• Observe safety and LOTO rules; inspect materials during runs.
• Record deficiencies and coordinate with supervisor/quality.
• Maintain tooling and perform housekeeping; assist maintenance and PM.
• Complete reports on production, changeovers, and scrap.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.

Hospitals, hotels, schools, bridges, airports and more.Come build a career you believe in.Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for setting up and operating high speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications.RESPONSIBILITIES:Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.Advanced set up and calibration of all equipment.Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after running materialRecord and report any deficiencies in quality to the supervisor/quality department.Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.Diagnose equipment and quality problems while keeping scrap and delays to a minimumPerform housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safeComplete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap materialAssist maintenance in repairs and PM of equipment.Participation in continuous improvement programs.Perform all other duties as assigned by management jobs as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to read and write English. Ability to maintain production records and logs.Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.Ability to perform math, addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipersAbility to operate forklift, crane and any other equipment necessary for completion of jobDetail oriented with the ability to work independently.Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this roleLead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policyPHYSICAL ABILITIES:Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
