Job summary

Career Strategies is seeking an experienced HR leader to oversee employee relations, payroll, benefits, and multi-state compliance across a dispersed portfolio of properties in the United States. You will partner with Finance and Operations, implement HR policies, and guide onboarding and offboarding for corporate and property-level staff.

• 5–8+ years HR experience with payroll and employee relations.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and state wage laws.
• Experience with property management or multi-site operations.

Job description

• Responsible for employee relations, payroll management, benefits administration, and multi-state compliance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including performance issues, disciplinary actions, investigations, and conflict resolution.
• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes for both corporate and property‑level employees.
• Partner with Finance and Operations on headcount planning, payroll forecasting, and workforce reporting.
• Oversee multi‑state payroll processes for salaried and hourly employees.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with third‑party payroll providers to manage audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
• 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience, with direct responsibility for payroll and employee relations.
• Direct experience working within a multifamily property management company and a strong understanding of the employee relations, compliance, recruiting, and operational challenges unique to a geographically dispersed property management workforce.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi state payroll and labor compliance.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, state wage laws).
• Experience supporting hourly, distributed, or operations heavy workforces (property management, hospitality, retail, or similar).
