About the Opportunity

Our agency has been retained by a mission-driven nonprofit in the entertainment and media space to identify a skilled HR Manager. This organization represents a broad membership base of creative professionals and plays a leading role in advancing workplace rights, fair standards, and well-being across the industry.

This is a unique opportunity for an HR professional who thrives in dynamic, values-oriented environments and is passionate about supporting internal teams through thoughtful people strategy and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, employee relations, and offboarding
• Partner with legal and senior leadership on employment matters, including union-related policies and compliance with state and federal law
• Lead training initiatives and support the implementation of performance management systems
• Maintain and update organizational policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and legal requirements
• Administer benefits programs, HRIS systems, and employee-facing platforms with accuracy and efficiency
• Address complex personnel matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment
• Play a central role in internal culture and engagement programs across departments

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a generalist or leadership capacity
• Strong knowledge of California employment law and multi-jurisdictional HR practices
• Experience supporting or partnering with unionized workforces strongly preferred
• Background in nonprofits, advocacy groups, or arts and culture organizations is a plus
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and change management skills
• Proficiency with HRIS systems and data-informed decision making
• SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
• This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Burbank, CA
