Job description

We are seeking an experienced Regional HR Manager to provide hands‑on Human Resources support across multiple operational locations throughout the U.S.

This is a senior individual‑contributor HR role with no direct reports. It is best suited for an experienced HR Manager, Senior HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner who enjoys being close to the business, partnering directly with operations, and remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day HR responsibilities.

The Regional HR Manager will support both union and non‑union employee populations and manage a broad HR scope including labor relations, employee relations, full‑cycle recruiting, onboarding, benefits support, compliance, training, performance management, and workforce planning.

The ideal candidate is approachable, energetic, highly communicative, and comfortable working with everyone from frontline employees to senior leadership. This organization also embraces technology and AI, so candidates should be comfortable using or excited to learn AI tools to improve HR processes and efficiency.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Travel:

Approximately 20% annually, primarily quarterly visits to supported locations

Compensation:

$100,000–$110,000 base, depending on experience

Bonus:

5–10% annual performance-based bonus

Employment Type:

Direct Hire

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance beginning Day 1
  • Health Savings Account options
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account options
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching eligibility after one year
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program

  • Additional voluntary insurance options
What You’ll Do
  • Provide hands‑on HR support across multiple operational locations in California, Texas, and Michigan
  • Partner closely with General Managers, Operations Managers, employees, and senior leadership
  • Support both union and non‑union employee populations
  • Manage employee and labor relations matters, including grievances, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, and communication with union representatives
  • Lead full‑cycle recruiting, from opening a requisition through offer and onboarding
  • Manage multiple active requisitions simultaneously and support higher‑volume recruiting periods
  • Coordinate required union posting and bidding processes prior to external recruiting
  • Own and coordinate the onboarding process for new employees
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits, leave processes, HR policies, and available resources
  • Manage employee relations matters and support performance management
  • Communicate HR policies, training initiatives, and organizational updates
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions
  • Utilize HRIS technology to maintain employee information and support HR processes
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI and emerging technology into HR workflows and processes
  • Travel to supported locations approximately quarterly to provide onsite HR support and strengthen relationships with employees and leadership
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including hands‑on HR management responsibilities
  • 3+ years of HR experience in a unionized environment
  • Direct, hands‑on labor relations experience involving grievances, CBA interpretation, union communication, and related employee matters
  • Experience independently supporting multiple locations or business units
  • Strong full‑cycle recruiting experience, including managing multiple requisitions simultaneously
  • Experience with employee relations, onboarding, benefits communication, and leave‑related processes
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
  • Experience using an HRIS; UKG experience is a strong plus
  • Comfortable using technology and genuinely interested in learning and incorporating AI tools into HR processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with frontline employees, operations management, and senior leadership
  • Ability to work onsite in Baltimore and travel approximately 20% annually
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card and other required facility credentials; associated costs will be covered by the company
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with California employment law and HR compliance
  • Experience supporting transportation, logistics, rail, port, automotive, manufacturing, distribution, or another operational workforce
  • UKG experience
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or similar HR certification
  • Experience supporting both union and non‑union employee populations

Who Will Be Successful

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves HR environment and wants broad responsibility while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day execution.

The successful candidate will be collaborative, engaging, professional, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities across geographically dispersed locations. They should enjoy building relationships with operational teams, solving employee issues, recruiting talent, navigating labor relations matters, and using technology to continuously improve how HR supports the business.

This position is particularly well suited for someone who wants to remain a hands‑on HR practitioner rather than manage a large HR team.
