Responsibilities

  • Design competitive and cost-effective total compensation programs and practices.
  • Develop understanding of employment law and HR policies.
  • Assist with Talent Acquisition: sourcing, interviewing and placement as needed.
  • Participate in rotation tracks (HR Generalist, Diversity & Inclusion, Learning & Development, Benefits/Workforce Analytics).

Job description

Program Overview
  • The program is multi-faceted and offers a human resources and business development curriculum focused on human resources, insurance, strategy, leading self and influencing others.
  • Other program components include formal mentoring, networking and career guidance.
  • Please note that occasional travel for business meetings and events is an expectation of program participants.
  • HRLDP participant duties will vary based on the specific rotation, but will be within one or more of the areas outlined below:
  • COMPENSATION: Design competitive and cost-effective total compensation programs, practices and solutions that support management in leading the creation and maintenance of a high-performance culture at Travelers.
  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: Develop an understanding of issues, state and federal employment law regulations and corporate HR policies and procedures.
  • TALENT ACQUISITION: Consult with business partners to develop and maintain external recruitment sources for exempt and non-exempt positions. Recruit, interview, assess and place applicants to effectively meet company human resources needs.
  • TRACK BASED ROTATION: Tracks include but are not limited to: People & Projects (HR Generalist, Diversity & Inclusion, Learning & Development, Operations) or Data & Analytics (Benefits, Workforce Analytics). Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Human Resources related experience (which may include one or more internship experiences in the Human Resources field).
  • Accountability: Strong track record of taking ownership and responsibility for actions and outcomes, performance, and results.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking: Demonstrated aptitude in identifying current or future problems or opportunities, analyzing data, synthesizing and comparing information to understand issues, identifying cause/effect relationships and exploring alternative solutions to support sound decision making.
  • Change Management/Resilience: Ability to remain energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, change or strenuous demands.
  • Customer Focus: Proven customer service skills with the ability to provide service excellence to internal or external clients.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrated track record of self and social awareness, empathy and balances confidence with humility.
  • Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills with the ability to actively engage with others while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Judgment/Decision Making: Capability of exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position.
  • Leveraging Differences: Proven capacity to works with and include people from different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, races, etc. and view those differences as assets to be leveraged to accomplish business goals and objectives.
