Job summary

Clean Harbors Norwell, MA is seeking a Human Resources Industrial Services Intern to join our safety-focused team during Summer 2027. This internship is an in-person opportunity based at our Norwell, MA office and is not eligible for remote work.

Interns will work onsite alongside our Human Resources and Talent Acquisition teams throughout the internship. Start dates for our Summer 2027 internships are May 17th and May 24th of 2027, with internships running through August.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources OR Business Management at an accredited college or university.
  • Strong interest in learning about the environmental and industrial services industry.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the #1 priority by following safe work practices and policies.
  • Support HR team members by guiding managers on employee topics and organizational changes.
  • Build relationships across the business by engaging with employees and learning day-to-day operations.
  • Assist training on company policies, employee development, and career growth opportunities.
  • Help with employee engagement initiatives, including retention and workplace satisfaction.
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews and development planning.
  • Assist with employee relations matters and investigations as needed.
  • Analyze HR data and metrics to support recruiting, retention, and workforce planning.
  • Utilize Excel, PowerPoint, CRMs to track data.
  • Follow local, state, and federal compliance regulations and safety guidelines.
  • Attend networking events within the Internship Program.
  • Complete a final project presentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

Clean Harbors Norwell, MA is seeking a Human Resources Industrial Services Intern to join our safety-focused team. Supporting HPC Industrial Powered by Clean Harbors. This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting real projects that contribute to business priorities across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. We are searching for a reliable and team-oriented individual with an excellent commitment to safety to join our growing team during Summer 2027!

This internship is an in-person opportunity based at our Norwell, MA office and is not eligible for remote work. Interns will work onsite alongside our Human Resources and our Talent Acquisition team throughout the internship.

Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to our industry, and develop practical skills that support their academic and early career goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, including programs focused on retention and workplace satisfaction;
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews, development planning, and compensation cycles;
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including gathering information and supporting investigations as needed;
  • Help analyze HR data and metrics to support recruiting, retention, and overall workforce planning efforts;
  • Utilize tools such as excel, PowerPoint, CRMs, etc. to track data;
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules;
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines;
  • Attend Networking events within the Internship Program;
  • Complete a final project presentation;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
