Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Some coursework or experience in HR, business, marketing, or communications.
• Some travel may be required during the internship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting efforts: post openings, review resumes, coordinate interviews.
• Support onboarding: prepare materials and assist with orientation.
• Help facilitate Horizon Farm Credit’s internship program.
• Maintain HR databases and files with confidentiality and accuracy.
• Document workflows to improve HR processes and efficiency.
• Participate in internal communication initiatives.
• Collaborate with HR on real projects supporting employees and operations.
• Provide general administrative support and assist HR projects as needed.

The selected candidate will participate in a paid 10-12-week internship. Summer Intern hours are typically Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The internship program is scheduled to run from mid-May through early August 2027.

Position Overview

This internship position at Horizon Farm Credit will support efforts within the Human Resources department to help plan and execute initiatives that promote and support the Human Resources Department within the organization. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, and various additional HR areas.

Areas of responsibility include:

• Assist with recruiting efforts, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interviews.
• Support onboarding processes by helping prepare materials and assisting with new hire orientation.
• Help with facilitation of HFC’s internship program.
• Maintain HR databases and files with confidentiality and accuracy.
• Assist with documenting workflows and identifying ways to make HR processes more efficient, accurate, and employee-friendly.
• Participate in internal communication initiatives.
• Partner with HR professionals on real projects that support our employees, strengthen HR operations, and improve how we work.
• Provide general administrative support and contribute to other HR projects as needed.
• Gain experience working within HR systems, assisting with employee data maintenance, reporting, and data accuracy.

Requirements:

• Ambitious student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• Preferred expected graduation dates between May 2028 – December 2029.
• Strong academic background and a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Preferred experience with coursework in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, Communication, etc.
• Some travel will be required with this internship.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently with general supervision and proven self‑starter.
• Detail-oriented, independent judgment skills, strong organizational skills.
• Flexible to a changing work environment.
