Job summary

FHLB Des Moines invites you to join its HR team as an intern, gaining hands-on experience in development, recruiting, onboarding, and HR operations within a collaborative, inclusive culture. You'll work closely with our team to support learning initiatives, coordinate outreach, and ensure a great experience for new hires while building confidential, professional skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in HR, business, psychology, communications or similar field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
• Creative problem solving when needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; exposure to Workday is a plus.
• Experience with Canva, video editing, or photography software is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support employee development activities and learning opportunities.
• Assist recruiting activities, social media outreach, and events.
• Assist onboarding resources to create a great new-employee experience.
• Provide administrative support across immigration, benefits, compensation, learning, and engagement programs.

Accountabilities

• Development! Support employee development activities and initiatives, such as promoting the Bank’s learning center and coordinating learning opportunities and related communications.
• Recruiting! Support recruiting activities, from social media and strategic outreach to coordinating internal events.
• Onboarding! Help give new employees a great experience through engaging onboarding resources and activities.
• HR expertise! Get exposure to immigration, benefits, compensation, process and procedures, learning and development, engagement and more through administrative support of various programs at the Bank!

What qualifications should I have?

• Working toward a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, communications or similar field of study.
• An excellent communicator, both written and verbally.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with discretion and confidentiality.
• A team player, who can also accomplish tasks independently.
• A creative thinker, who can apply creative problem solving when needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; exposure to Workday is a plus.
• Experience with design software (Canva), video editing and photography software is a plus, but not required.

Compensation Range

Hourly: $22.00 - $22.00

This compensation range represents the Bank’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
