McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC is seeking an HR professional to coordinate the colleague lifecycle across the Midwest and Atlantic regions. You will support onboarding, offboarding, mobility, and performance processes while ensuring compliance and excellent colleague experience.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will become an expert in People Central and ServiceNow, translate data into insights, and partner with business leaders to drive talent decisions.

You will coordinate key HR elements across the lifecycle of the colleague experience and act as a trusted resource for our Midwest and Atlantic regional office locations.
You will deliver exceptional support to our colleagues and business partners, while ensuring compliance with important risk topics and legal requirements. You will be a trusted source of information and counsellor to colleagues and will play a front-line role in answering HR questions and escalating issues as needed.
You will help create a smooth and engaging colleague experience across onboarding and offboarding by coordinating day 1 schedules and logistics, maintaining new hire reporting, completing I-9s, answering pre-start questions, presenting key HR information, and supporting a seamless first-day experience. You will also support transitioning colleagues through the offboarding process by managing data, executing key transition support programs, conducting exit interviews, handling recoupments and reconciliations, and helping ensure a caring and supportive experience for departing colleagues.
You will manage mobility, flexible programs, and role changes across the region, including internal McKinsey programs, colleague rotations, and alternative work arrangements, while carefully administering the related processes, documentation, and communications that support colleagues through internal changes. You will also serve as the regional HR data and reporting expert by completing month-end audit reports, responding to stakeholder data requests, and using insights from HR data to support informed decision-making.
You will partner on performance management and colleague development processes, including drafting performance improvement plans, assisting with feedback conversations, and supporting colleague transitions. You will also serve as a trusted advisor on Duty of Care programs and colleague care resources by helping colleagues access and navigate available support, championing these programs across the region, and managing important communications and reminders across offices.
Our team works extensively within People Central, ServiceNow, and other HR systems. You will become an expert at operating within these systems to build expertise on key HR topics. You will also contribute to strategic projects and office/firm priorities - contributing to efforts beyond the immediate scope of your role as needed. As a member of the broader North America HR team, you may be a contributing member, convener, or leader of a group or groups of colleagues focused on specific HR service lines or projects. Flexibility and agility are necessary as your responsibilities will evolve based on business needs and your professional development.
You will work in our Washington DC location with responsibilities across our Midwest and Atlantic region. Our regional locations collectively include more than 3,500 consulting and non-consulting colleagues. You will work collaboratively across our offices as well as with other firm functions, including people legal, immigration legal, payroll, talent management, recruiting, compensation and professional development. You will report to the Senior Manager of Human Resources for the Midwest and Atlantic regions.

To help you understand what you can expect, the salary range for new joiners in this role in United States, including all office locations where the job may be performed, is $90,400 - $113,000 USD gross per year. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest [salary/hourly wages] for this role at the time of this posting, ensuring you have a clear picture right from the start, though it's important to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current organizational needs all play a part in determining the final figure. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey's discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
