Zusammenfassung

Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) is seeking an HR Generalist to provide administrative and compliance support, maintain HR records, administer benefits and leave processes, and coordinate staff training. You will monitor credentials and deadlines and collaborate with the HR Director to ensure consistent HR operations across MDC programs.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and discretion with confidential information, plus experience with HRIS, reporting, and compliance

Qualifikationen

  • Two years of progressively responsible HR experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of HR administration, benefits, employee records and leave processes.
  • Strong communication, organization, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Discretion handling confidential information and building trust.
  • Experience using HR information systems, spreadsheets, email, and document management tools.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, social services, health care, or regulated workplace.
  • Experience managing compliance tracking and staff training records for varied schedules/work locations.
  • SHRM CP or PHR certification or interest in obtaining one.

Aufgaben

  • Maintain personnel files, HR system records, policy acknowledgments, and documentation; monitor completeness and accuracy.
  • Track background checks, licenses, certifications, training, and position requirements; notify employees and managers of deadlines.
  • Coordinate staff training schedules, enrollment, reminders, attendance records, and completion reports; maintain training records.
  • Support HR compliance activities by maintaining forms, logs, notices, and audit documentation.
  • Respond to routine employee questions about benefits, timekeeping, leave, and HR processes; refer complex questions to HR Director.
  • Administer benefits enrollment and changes, monitor eligibility and deadlines, reconcile vendor/payroll information, assist employees with routine questions.
  • Coordinate leave and accommodation requests with HR Director; maintain accurate records and safeguard medical information.
  • Maintain an HR compliance calendar and prepare recurring reports on training, credentials, personnel records, benefits, and deadlines.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance to verify employee changes, deductions, leave information, and corrections before processing deadlines.
  • Identify record keeping gaps and recommend improvements to HR forms/workflows/tracking tools.
  • Assist with policy distribution, staff communications, performance review administration, and other HR projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Details: Job Location: 721 Fawcett Ave - Tacoma, WA, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $31.25 - $38.46Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Human Resources, The HR Generalist provides administrative and compliance support for Metropolitan Development Council (MDC). The position maintains accurate HR records and systems, administers benefits and leave processes, monitors required credentials and deadlines, and coordinates staff training. This role handles sensitive information with discretion and works with the Director of Human Resources to keep HR processes organized, timely, and consistent across MDC programs.

  • Maintain personnel files, HR system records, policy acknowledgments, and other required documentation; monitor completeness and accuracy.
  • Track background checks, licenses, certifications, training, and other position requirements; notify employees and managers of upcoming deadlines and missing items.
  • Coordinate staff training schedules, enrollment, reminders, attendance records, and completion reports; maintain the organization’s training records and follow up on overdue requirements.
  • Support HR compliance activities by maintaining forms, logs, notices, and audit documentation and helping prepare information for internal or external reviews.
  • Respond to routine employee questions about benefits, timekeeping, leave, and HR processes; refer complex questions to the HR Director.

  • Experience in a nonprofit, social services, health care, or other regulated workplace.
  • Experience managing compliance tracking and staff training records for a workforce with varied schedules, work locations, or job classifications.
  • SHRM CP or PHR certification, or interest in obtaining one.
