Qualifications

  • Certification in CEBS, PHR or SHRM-CP preferred/required.

Job description

The Human Resources Generalist provides functional services in support of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Generalist carries out duties and responsibilities in the areas, including but not limited to, Employee Relations and Benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Responds to employee questions and help to resolve issues.
  • Manages annual Open Enrollment process.
  • Processes monthly billing from insurance providers.
  • Reviews billings for accuracy, codes, and advances for payment.
  • Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll, and the company.
  • Completes reports for management as required.
  • Manages day-to-day personnel issues including advising company managers about HR issues, compliance, and the application of HR best practices.
  • Assists with the disciplinary process as appropriate.
  • Manages Employee Relations concerns, including conducting investigations as needed.
  • Responsible for Leave Management and Tracking, to include FMLA and USERRA.
  • Manages foreign worker program (H2B and J1 visas) in coordination with foreign recruiters and domestic foreign worker associations.
  • Maintains employee retention programs including assisting in planning employee events: Annual Awards, Holiday Luncheon, Employee Appreciation, and Junior Achievement Fund Raiser.
  • Serves on the Cheer Committee.
  • Updates and manages Job Description database.
  • Maintains and manages orientation training program.
  • Serve as backup to other department staff, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three years of benefits experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in state and federal laws and regulations related to Employee Relations.
  • Working knowledge of COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, and related state and federal regulations is required.
  • ADP HRIS system experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, multi-task, and prioritize as needed.
  • Must be accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs, and third- party record keeping/administration applications
  • Minimum requirement in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint of intermediate to advanced level.
  • Minimum keyboarding skill of 45-50 wpm.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree with seven (7) to nine (9) years of Human Resources experience, OR a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and three (3) years of experience in the HR field, OR eight years of experience in the HR field, OR any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Certification preferred CEBS, PHR or SHRM-CP Certification required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Company policies and procedures. Ability to write reports, and business correspondence, and assist in writing procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees. Bi-lingual a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Calculates hourly rates of pay based on annual compensation.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
