Job summary

The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee seeks an experienced HR professional to coordinate a broad range of human resource functions, including benefits administration, recruitment and onboarding, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will support employees on leaves and compensation, maintain accurate personnel files, and liaise with Payroll to ensure smooth HR operations. A Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of related HR experience are required.

Job description

CLASS SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating a broad range of human resource functions. Responsibilities may include administering benefits; performing tasks related to recruitment and onboarding; and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Researching, analyzing, and administering healthcare plans, from medical and dental benefits to disability and family leave. Advising employees, answering questions, and enrolling staff in benefit and compensation programs.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommends courses of action.
  • Serve as the HR liaison in conjunction with the Payroll Administrator.
  • May perform duties related to payment of bills associated with benefit administration.
  • Ensure smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries processing various paperwork, especially regarding disability, FMLA absences, and employee life status changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field; 5-7 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
