Job summary

Pacific Staffing in California is seeking a Human Resources Partner to manage FMLA/CFRA leave administration and workers' compensation programs. This onsite role may transition to a hybrid schedule (1-2 remote days weekly) after training.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in leave management and WC, with strong communication skills and knowledge of CA/state/federal regulations. Experience in manufacturing or construction is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience with leave of absence management and workers' compensation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and processes (California and federal)
  • Experience with Cal OSHA and Federal OSHA
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, USERRA, STD, LTD, state leave laws and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills and discretion

Responsibilities

  • Manage the FMLA leave administration process from initial notice to the return to work
  • Advise managers and employees on interaction of leave laws with PTO, workers compensation, and disability benefits
  • Maintain communication with employees on leave to facilitate timely return to work
  • Oversee return-to-work for extended leaves
  • Facilitate reasonable accommodation requests under the ADA
  • Draft/revise company leave policies to ensure compliance with laws
  • Maintain records of leave and accommodation requests in compliance with regulations
  • Preserve confidentiality of medical documentation
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws
  • Manage workers' compensation claims from start to finish and coordinate with insurance providers
  • Monitor injured employees' recovery and provide updates to supervisors/insurance
  • Audit workers' compensation claims data for trends
  • Collaborate with third party admins, Safety, Finance, and insurance providers

Job description

Our client in the Sacramento area, a well-established and growing leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Partner with experience in Leave Administration and Workers' Compensation Management. This role is primarily onsite, with the potential for a hybrid schedule (1-2 remote days per week) after the initial training period.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing workers' compensation claims and overseeing all leave of absence processes, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations.

The qualified candidate will have at least three years of experience facilitating workers' compensation and leave management with excellent communication skills. Experience in the manufacturing or construction industry is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the FMLA leave administration process from initial notice to the return to work
  • Advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits
  • Maintain reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work
  • Oversee the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s)
  • Facilitate other leave requests, which may include reasonable accommodation requests under the ADA
  • Draft and/or recommend revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices
  • Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws
  • Manage workers' compensation claims from start to finish, including reporting, managing follow up appoints with the employees, and tracking claims, and facilitate employee return to work
  • Closely monitor the progress of injured employees' recovery and provide regular updates to supervisors and insurance providers
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of workers' compensation claims data to identify trends, and patterns
  • Work with third party administrators, the Safety Department, the Finance and Accounting Department, insurance companies to assist with detailed claims management
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with leave of absence management and worker's compensation
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • SHRM or HRCI certification (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations., and processes (California and federal)
  • Experience with Cal OSHA and Federal OSHA
  • Functional knowledge of HIPAA, FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, USERRA, STD, LTD, state leave laws and procedures
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with insurance providers, legal professionals, and healthcare providers related to workers' compensation claims
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
