Magnify in the Richmond, VA area is seeking an HR Generalist who is hands-on, highly organized, and people‑focused to support a broad range of HR functions. You’ll work closely with employees and managers to solve problems, promote a positive workplace, and help drive process improvements.

The ideal candidate has a BS in HR or related field and 3+ years of generalist HR experience, plus strong MS Office skills and familiarity with HRIS/payroll systems. This is a full‑time role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices, HR policies, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for HR policies, benefits, and workplace questions.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, changes, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding to ensure a welcoming introduction.
  • Assist with recruiting activities: postings, interviews, background checks, pre-employment.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and HR data.
  • Administer benefits and assist with enrollment.
  • Support payroll and timekeeping accuracy and corrections.
  • Ensure policy compliance and consistency across the organization.
  • Assist with employee relations and management of workplace issues.
  • Coordinate performance reviews and provide manager support.
  • Assist with compliance paperwork and HR reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment regulations and promote compliance.
  • Support employee engagement and company events.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience.
  • Take on special HR projects as needed.

We’re looking for a people-focused, highly organized HR Generalist to join our team in the Richmond, VA area. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being hands‑on, building strong relationships, solving problems, and helping create a positive and productive workplace.

The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers while supporting a broad range of human resources functions. The ideal candidate is approachable and professional, demonstrates sound judgment, protects confidentiality, and can confidently balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace questions.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, employee changes, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new‑hire onboarding to ensure employees have a welcoming and organized introduction to the company.
  • Assist with recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate communication, interview coordination, background checks, and pre‑employment processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and ensure HR information is consistently updated.
  • Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefit‑related questions and enrollment processes.
  • Support payroll and timekeeping processes by reviewing information for accuracy and coordinating corrections as needed.
  • Help administer company policies and procedures while promoting consistency and compliance.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including documenting concerns, researching issues, and partnering with management to resolve workplace challenges.
  • Coordinate performance review processes and provide support to managers throughout the year.
  • Assist with compliance‑related activities, required employment documentation, and HR reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations and help ensure company practices remain compliant.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, company events, and other activities that contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and the overall employee experience.
  • Take on special projects and other HR responsibilities as the needs of the organization evolve.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices, HR policies, and applicable employment regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with leadership and other team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with an HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, or other HR technology is preferred.
  • A proactive, solutions‑oriented approach and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
