Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in building a positive employee experience, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, and supporting the company’s overall HR operations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, people-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.


Location: New York Area (Hybrid/Remote)


Job Type: Full-time


Responsibilities


  • Compliance & HR Operations

    • Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws.

    • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.

    • Support audits and reporting requirements.

    • Stay up to date with multi-state labor and employment regulations, with emphasis on restaurant industry compliance in California and New York.



  • Recruitment & Hiring

    • Partner with managers to identify hiring needs and develop job descriptions.

    • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and extending offers.

    • Support employer branding and candidate experience initiatives.



  • Onboarding & Offboarding

    • Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.

    • Prepare necessary paperwork, system access, and training materials.

    • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, final documentation, and compliance requirements.



  • Employee Relations

    • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and conflict resolution.

    • Promote a positive workplace culture and support employee engagement initiatives.

    • Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and best practices.



  • Training Development

    • Create and update manuals, guides, and resources to help employees learn daily tasks and company processes.

    • Support ongoing employee training and development initiatives.



  • Payroll & Finance Collaboration

    • Partner with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

    • Verify timekeeping, deductions, and compliance with wage and hour regulations.

    • Support payroll audits and resolve discrepancies as needed.




Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, compliance requirements, and best practices, especially related to CA, NY, and NJ.

  • Prior experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry is preferred.

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.

  • 1+ years of HR experience (generalist or similar role).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Restaurant365, Toast, Gusto, AllianceHCM, or similar systems is preferred.

  • Visa support, including OPT and H-1B, is available for qualified candidates.
