Responsibilities

About the Role

The HR Generalist supports the consistent and effective delivery of day-to-day Human Resources services across Spring Automation. This role serves as an accessible resource for employees and managers and supports core HR processes including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee records, HR systems, performance processes, compliance, and employee engagement.

Working closely with the HR Business Partner, the HR Generalist helps ensure HR processes are accurate, timely, organized, and employee focused. This position is responsible for independently managing many recurring HR activities while recognizing when employee concerns, business needs, or policy questions should be escalated to the HR Business Partner.

The HR Generalist also plays an important role in identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and the overall employee experience as Spring Automation continues to grow.

In This Role, You Will…
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for routine employee questions related to policies, benefits, HR systems, workplace processes, and general HR needs.
  • Support routine employee relations matters and escalates complex, sensitive, high-risk, or recurring concerns to the HR Business Partner.
  • Administer established HR policies and help employees and managers understand company expectations and available resources.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, terminations, and other employee actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and required employment documentation.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions, including job postings, applicant review, candidate communication, interview coordination, offer preparation, and pre-employment activities.
  • Partner with hiring managers and the HR Business Partner to understand position requirements and maintain an organized and consistent recruiting process.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, required documentation, system access, and follow-up.
  • Support administration of employee benefit programs, including enrollment, qualifying life events, eligibility changes, employee questions, and annual open enrollment.
  • Coordinate employee leave processes and maintain required documentation and employee communication.
  • Process employee status and payroll-related changes and coordinate with payroll and finance partners to resolve routine questions or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate employee offboarding, including documentation, system updates, benefit notifications, equipment-return communication, and exit processes.
  • Maintain employee information within the HRIS, including employee records, position information, organizational data, workflows, and related updates.
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc HR reports and review workforce data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain employment, compliance, training, certification, and policy-acknowledgment records.
  • Coordinate performance review, goal setting, engagement survey, and talent-review processes, including system setup, employee communications, deadlines, and completion tracking.
  • Identify recurring employee questions, process challenges, or opportunities for improvement and bring recommendations to the HR Business Partner.
  • Support special HR projects and company initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  • Have 3+ years of HR generalist, HR coordinator, or HR operations experience, with demonstrated growth in HR responsibilities.
  • Have working knowledge of several core HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, HRIS administration, leave administration, and employment compliance.
  • Are comfortable serving as an approachable and trusted resource for employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Have strong organizational skills and can manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically.
  • Exercise sound judgment and understand when an HR matter should be escalated.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.
  • Are comfortable working within HR systems and using data and reporting tools to maintain accurate employee information.
  • Have proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Look for practical ways to make processes more organized, efficient, and employee-friendly.
  • Can balance responsive employee support with consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
  • Experience with Paylocity or another HRIS/payroll platform.
  • Experience supporting HR within a growing, technical, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based organization.
  • Experience supporting recruiting across both professional and technical positions.
