Job summary

Marlborough Public Schools is seeking a Human Resources Generalist II to provide HR support within a district of 800+ employees. This in-person role, based in Marlborough, MA, handles employment processing, HRIS data entry, benefits, and recruitment activities.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, you will manage new hire orientation, CORI/fingerprint procedures, and support labor negotiations. A Bachelor's degree is required or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education.
  • Experience in a Human Resources Office is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a plus.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish or Portuguese)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of an HR team for a school district with 800+ employees working with employees and job applicants.
  • Process employment status changes.
  • Generate employment verification letters.
  • Process new hire paperwork and conduct new hire benefit information orientation.
  • Process benefit enrollments and changes.
  • Enter information in HRIS database (ASPEN) and run reports as necessary.
  • Post job openings and respond to questions.
  • Track certification for licensed educators.
  • Maintain electronic personnel files.
  • Process leaves including FMLA.
  • Processing of educational lane changes.
  • Support paperwork process for retiree paperwork.
  • Provide new hires with information to participate in the district mentoring and induction program.
  • Process and send annual letters of reassurance to 10-month employees.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Service Awards List.
  • Coordinate and administer CORI and the fingerprint process.
  • Take photos for ID badges.
  • Assist employees with requests to review personnel files.
  • Assist the Director of HR in development of HR employee relations and labor negotiation materials for collective bargaining.
  • Recruit substitutes, screen applicants, conduct interviews and check references as necessary.
  • Recruit candidates at school and community events, job fairs and through social media and electronic posting boards.
  • Research and follow up on new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college and university offices as a source to generate additional qualified applicants.
  • Form connections with local and surrounding community resources that will strengthen recruitment.
  • Represent the Marlborough Public Schools, accurately, dynamically and professionally.
  • Partner with teacher prep programs, encourage paths to licensure and support building an education pipeline of qualified candidates in difficult to fill roles for future job openings.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned

Job Summary:

Provide Human Resources support in a school district with 800+ employees. Perform administrative work of a complex nature, general office functions and related work as required. Acts in a confidential capacity to the Human Resources Director with regard to employee relations, labor negotiations and other management and administrative activities. Works cooperatively with other school district personnel.

  • Understanding of operating practices in a human resources office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good customer service skills in dealing with the public and employees.
  • Must be able perform work quickly, efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of office practices, procedures and office equipment.
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication.
  • Must be a strong team player, able to collaborate well with others.
  • Strong computer competence including but not limited to, abilities with standard office software (ex. Word and Excel) and HRIS data entry.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education

Previous experience working in Human Resources Office preferred

Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)a plus

Bilingual a plus (Spanish or Portuguese)
