Job summary

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of HR experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to confidentiality. Manufacturing experience is a plus and the position is on-site with full-time hours.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day HR functions and employee needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Support recruiting efforts, including posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and reference checks.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including offer letters, screenings, paperwork, and orientation.
  • Coordinate employee termination activities and COBRA administration.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with 401(k) administrative requirements and disclosures.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, leave, and return-to-work activities.
  • Manage vacation administration and attendance tracking.
  • Review Time & Attendance adjustments and schedule adherence.
  • Assist with performance reviews, development plans, and training.
  • Maintain SOP documentation and disciplinary records.
  • Answer questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Support employee engagement through communications, events, and recognition.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and policies.
  • Assist with OSHA compliance and safety program activities.

Van Zeeland Manufacturing, Inc. is looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in Little Chute, Wisconsin. This is a hands‑on, generalist HR role that plays an important part in supporting our employees and keeping our day‑to‑day HR operations running smoothly.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, attendance and vacation tracking, employee relations, and HR and safety compliance.

This position is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working with people, staying organized, solving problems, and being involved in all aspects of HR .

What You’ll Do
  • Handle day‑to‑day HR functions and employee needs

  • Review schedule adherence and reports prior to payroll
  • Assist with performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and employee training
  • Maintain and update SOP documentation
  • Assist with disciplinary documentation
  • Answer employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Maintain an open‑door approach so employees feel comfortable sharing questions, concerns, and suggestions
  • Support employee engagement through communication, events, and recognition programs
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Manage OSHA compliance and support the company safety program and safety committee
  • Maintain the company safety manual and safety records
  • Complete OSHA reporting, accident documentation, and forklift certification records
  • Prepare HR reports, documents, and correspondence
  • Provide administrative support to the leadership team
  • Assist with other projects as needed
