What You’ll Do
- Leave & Claims Administration: Manage end-to-end employee leave programs (FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and Workers' Compensation), including eligibility reviews, documentation, claims follow-up, and return-to-work coordination.
- Benefits Coordination: Support daily benefits administration, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, employee inquiries, and liaison with benefit brokers/vendors.
- Employee & Manager Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for routine HR inquiries; advise on company policies, procedures, and best practices, escalating complex concerns to the HR Manager.
- Employee Relations & Performance: Partner with the HR Manager on workplace investigations, performance management documentation, and corrective action procedures.
- HRIS & Data Integrity: Maintain confidential personnel records, process employee lifecycle changes, and run audit reports to ensure data accuracy within our HRIS.
- Compliance & Audits: Support adherence to federal, state, and local labor regulations (including HIPAA privacy standards); participate in periodic audits to identify compliance gaps.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline HR workflows, enhance employee communication, and assist in drafting new policies, standard operating procedures, and forms.
What You Bring
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator role.
- Core Competencies: Practical experience handling employee benefits, leave administration (FMLA/STD), workers' compensation, and basic employee relations.
- Compliance Knowledge: Sound understanding of core labor laws, wage/hour standards, and confidentiality requirements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset toward supporting teams across all levels.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency with HRIS platforms, modern HR software, and office productivity tools (Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Typical office environment with prolonged periods of desk/computer work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally (e.g., event supplies, records boxes).
- Occasional local travel to job sites, field locations, or company events as needed.
