About the Role:

The HR Generalist supports the Plant HR Manager in managing a broad range of human resources activities within a manufacturing plant environment. This role is responsible for recruiting and onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee relations, performance and development programs, attendance tracking, employee communications, and HR recordkeeping.

The HR Generalist serves as a resource for managers and team members by addressing HR questions, resolving workplace concerns, supporting safety and environmental initiatives, and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed. The role also assists with compliance, government reporting, unemployment claims, workers' compensation, employee engagement, recognition programs, and special HR projects.

What You Will Do:

In this role, you will support day-to-day HR operations for the plant by partnering with leaders and team members to provide guidance, maintain accurate employee records, coordinate recruiting and onboarding activities, process payroll-related information, assist with benefits administration, support employee relations, and help drive communication, engagement, compliance, and safety-focused initiatives across the facility.

What You Need To Be Successful:
  • 2+ years of related HR experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of HR principles and practices, including recruiting, interviewing, selection, training, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and payroll.
  • Experience supporting HR functions within a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Strong understanding of employee records, attendance management, performance reviews, training plans, and HR documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and managers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of payroll and HR information systems.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information appropriately.
  • Understanding employment laws, regulations, company policies, and government reporting requirements.
  • Ability to promote a positive team environment, company culture, safety, and open communication.
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a manufacturing, automotive, or plant environment.
  • Hands-on experience using HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or related workforce management systems.
  • Experience supporting benefits administration, including health and welfare plans, retirement programs, paid time off, disability, and leave-of-absence processes.
  • Familiarity with unemployment claims, hearings, and related follow-up activities.
  • Experience supporting workers' compensation processes, claims documentation, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Exposure with environmental, health, and safety initiatives within a plant or operations setting.
  • Experience assisting with employee relations matters, investigations, exit interviews, attendance tracking, and absenteeism management.
  • Experience coordinating employee engagement activities, recognition programs, town halls, orientations, or team member communications.
  • Experience preparing HR reports and supporting compliance with applicable company policies, government reporting requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Experience coaching managers and team members on HR-related questions, policies, and workplace concerns.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
