Job summary

Legrand North and Central America is seeking an Human Resources Generalist to support hourly production employees and front-line leaders in a 24/7 manufacturing setting. You will partner with the HR Manager to deliver compliant HR services, onboarding, and employee relations across local operations.

The role requires handling disciplinary actions, policy administration, and HR processes while maintaining strong records and data accuracy in HRIS systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or HR required.
  • 3+ years in an HR role; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience recruiting non-exempt and exempt roles.
  • Experience supporting hourly workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Support supervisors and front-line leaders to achieve business objectives through the HR function.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to hourly production employees and front-line leaders.
  • Advise managers on disciplinary action, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of HR policies and applicable labor laws.
  • Partner with managers to ensure consistent application of policies.
  • Support onboarding, merit process, performance reviews, and open enrollment.
  • Maintain HRIS data and prepare routine workforce reports.
  • Administer FMLA and short-term disability leaves.
  • Provide HR support across multiple shifts on the production floor.

Job description

This Human Resources Generalist position provides day-to-day HR support to hourly production employees and front-line leaders in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role serves as the first point of contact for HR questions, supports employee relations, onboarding, policy administration, attendance/timekeeping, and HR processes, and works closely with the HR Manager to provide consistent, compliant support for local operations.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with the HR Manager to support supervisors, managers, and other leaders within the organization to achieve business objectives through the HR function.
  • Provides day-to-day HR support to hourly production employees and front-line leaders in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, serving as an accessible first point of contact for HR-related questions, concerns, and routine employee relations matters.
  • Addresses HR-related questions as a first contact and resolves issues in a timely manner and/or escalates them to the appropriate internal department as needed.
  • Advises managers regarding disciplinary action, company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, and state and federal labor laws applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Presents HR related topics in a variety of group settings (e.g., quarterly plant meetings, new hire orientations, benefits enrollment sessions)
  • Supports various HR initiatives such as onboarding activities, annual merit process, annual performance review process, open enrollment, and other organizational reviews.
  • Responds to, investigates, and resolves employee complaints and employee relations issues, such as equal opportunity and harassment claims, and implements conflict resolution strategies.
  • Partners with supervisors to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Supports recruitment and hiring processes for non-exempt production roles, including interview coordination, candidate communication, pre-employment processes, and partnership with recruitment and hiring managers.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data; prepares routine reports related to headcount, turnover, attendance, open positions, and other workforce metrics as needed.
  • Administers leave of absence programs including but not limited to; FMLA and short-term disability.
  • Maintains regular visibility on the production floor and supports employees and supervisors across multiple shifts, including occasional early morning, evening, or off-shift support as business needs require.
  • Assists the Human Resources department on other assignments and/or special projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Sound judgment and ability to recognize when to escalation sensitive or complex matters.
  • Ability to use MS Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills, facilitation skills, and solid knowledge of HR related laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with reporting capabilities in an HRIS system (Oracle, preferred).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources (or related field of study)
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Human Resources role
  • Previous experience with recruiting non-exempt and exempt level roles
  • Previous experience in supporting an hourly workforce
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
