Job summary

Summit Products Corporation is seeking a knowledgeable HR Generalist to support employees and leaders in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role reports to the Business Operations Manager and handles recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, training, records, policy administration, and compliance.

The HR Generalist will partner with operations leadership to balance employee experience with business needs, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Two or more years of progressive HR experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or other fast-paced operational environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, recruiting, and HR compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal and Iowa employment laws, including wage-and-hour practices, FMLA, ADA, EEO, workers’ compensation, and employment-record requirements.
  • Experience using HRIS, applicant-tracking, payroll, and timekeeping systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance, support, and policy interpretation.
  • Support full-cycle recruiting, including posting jobs, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, preparing offers, and communicating with candidates.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, employment documentation, HRIS entry, and employee file maintenance.
  • Maintain confidential personnel records and HRIS data.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including concerns, coaching, investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and workplace-policy questions.
  • Support performance-management processes, including evaluation timelines, documentation, manager coaching, and follow-up.
  • Administer and respond to questions regarding employee benefits, open enrollment, retirement plans, leave programs, workers’ compensation, and other HR-related programs.
  • Coordinate leave administration and required documentation for FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, personal leave, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Assist with payroll-related employee changes, timekeeping questions, wage updates, deductions, and record accuracy.
  • Help develop, update, communicate, and enforce company policies, procedures, employee handbook materials, and workplace notices.
  • Support HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist with employee training, safety communications, employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events.
  • Prepare HR reports, maintain data accuracy, and assist with workforce metrics such as turnover, attendance, headcount, and recruiting activity.
  • Support exit interviews, separation documentation, final-pay coordination, and offboarding procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality with all employee and business information.
  • Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job description

Summit Products is seeking a knowledgeable, approachable, and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support employees and leaders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position reports directly to the Business Operations Manager and is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, training, records management, policy administration, and employment-law compliance.

The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with operations leadership to support a positive employee experience while balancing business needs, consistency, confidentiality, and compliance.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Partner with managers and employees to provide day-to-day HR guidance, support, and policy interpretation.
