Job description

Are you an HR professional who enjoys being the person employees can count on? This is an opportunity to join a collaborative HR team where you’ll have a hands‑on role across the employee lifecycle from onboarding and benefits to leaves of absence, employee engagement, and HR projects. Our client is seeking a Human Resources Generalist who is organized, approachable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable balancing a variety of HR responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.

As the Human Resources Generalist you will:

  • Support the full new‑hire onboarding process, including I‑9/E‑Verify, IT access, new‑hire orientation, and pre‑employment coordination.
  • Administer leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and company leave programs.
  • Manage and support workers’ compensation claims, including documentation, carrier communication, modified duty, and return‑to‑work coordination.
  • Support benefits administration, including new‑hire enrollments, open enrollment, qualifying life events, and employee questions.
  • Reconcile benefits, payroll, and carrier records to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data.
  • Prepare HR reports related to headcount, turnover, leave status, training, and other HR metrics.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions, providing guidance on routine matters and escalating more complex employee relations issues.
  • Support HR policy and handbook updates and help communicate changes to employees and managers.
  • Track required employee training and assist with training coordination.
  • Help create a positive employee experience through recognition programs, employee events, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Coordinate event logistics, vendors, communications, and budgets.
  • Support offboarding and termination processes, including exit interviews, benefits termination, COBRA, final pay coordination, and IT notifications.
  • Respond to employment verification requests, unemployment claims, and routine HR inquiries.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on interview scheduling, candidate communication, offers, and pre‑employment activities.
  • Assist with HR audits, compliance initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and/or a SHRM‑CP or PHR certification.
  • 3+ years of HR Generalist or HR Specialist experience supporting both exempt and non‑exempt employees.
  • Hands‑on experience with onboarding, leave administration, and benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of California and federal employment regulations, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and I‑9 requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A service‑oriented approach with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and managers.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to take ownership and follow through.
  • Comfortable coordinating employee events and working with vendors.
  • Experience working with HRIS, ATS/onboarding systems, electronic documentation systems, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience in a medical device, life sciences, or other regulated environment is preferred.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers the chance to make an impact across the employee experience, work closely with a collaborative HR team, and take on a broad range of HR responsibilities. If you're looking for a position where no two days are exactly alike and where strong organization, communication, and follow‑through are valued, this could be a great next step.
