Job description

Morales Professional Services is currently seeking a high energy, entrepreneurial, experienced Human Resources Director for a manufacturing company with 80-year history of demonstrated innovation and growth. This multi-site company leads the industry in their manufacturing category and is looking for an innovative and solutions-oriented HR Director.

Summary:

The Human Resource Director will lead one other HR professional and own the day-to-day operations of human resources for operations, both in the Indianapolis area and other sites in the Midwest.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Own the HR function end-to-end across the Midwest, partnering closely with department leaders and the Executive Team on workforce planning, organizational structure, role clarity, and hiring approvals.
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, candidate screening, interviewing, selection, and offer management. Partner with hiring managers to build effective interview teams and assess candidates for company Core Values alignment to the company.
  • Drive hiring decisions by reviewing interview feedback, scorecards, references, and candidate assessments with hiring managers and providing guidance throughout the selection process.
  • Manage the complete new-hire onboarding process, including offer letters, background checks, employment documentation, HRIS setup, benefits enrollment materials, and first-day coordination.
  • Partner with hiring managers on employee and role onboarding, ensuring new hires understand company expectations, responsibilities, and culture. Conduct early employee check-ins during the second week and at the 30-day milestone, including administration of the New Hire Survey.
  • Support benefits administration, including PTO, leaves of absence, accommodations, and employee communications, ensuring information is accurately documented and tracked within the HRIS.
  • Oversee payroll accuracy and compliance in partnership with Finance & Administration and the external payroll provider; this role provides oversight and validation rather than directly processing payroll.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, employment documentation, compensation information, and other HR records within the HRIS and secured HR systems.
  • Maintain and communicate the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures, ensuring they remain current and supporting compliance with applicable federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Advise and support department leaders on employee relations, including performance management, documentation, corrective action, investigations, and terminations. Ensure HR is appropriately involved before employment commitments or significant actions are made.
  • Manage employee changes and lifecycle transactions, including promotions, transfers, compensation adjustments, reporting changes, and separations. Coordinate final pay, benefits communications, system access, and other offboarding requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of HR processes and infrastructure by developing and refining forms, templates, policies, procedures, and workflows that create consistent, scalable, and repeatable HR practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR Generalist supporting other locations, establishing priorities, providing coaching, and ensuring consistent HR support across the organization.
Requirements:
