Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join a rapidly growing, private equity-backed home healthcare organization with approximately 9,000 employees across multiple states. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this individual will serve as a strategic partner and trusted extension of HR leadership, helping strengthen the HR function during a period of significant growth and organizational transformation.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on HR leader with a strong generalist background who enjoys building processes, mentoring teams, solving complex operational challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the VP of Human Resources to strengthen and scale the HR function.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the HR team, including Generalists and Coordinators.
- Lead employee relations, investigations, performance management, and engagement initiatives.
- Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment, leave administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.), ACA compliance, broker relationships, and benefits renewals.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Serve as the HRIS expert for ADP Workforce Now, including reporting, system administration, workflow improvements, and data integrity.
- Partner with Payroll leadership to improve payroll controls and cross-functional processes.
- Improve onboarding processes and collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team.
- Develop HR policies, procedures, reporting, and operational best practices.
- Coach and develop junior HR team members.
- Travel quarterly to company headquarters in Richmond, VA.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with prior Director-level leadership preferred.
- Strong HR generalist background with expertise in employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations.
- Advanced experience with ADP Workforce Now, including HRIS administration and reporting.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and payroll controls.
- Experience supporting large, multi-state organizations.
- Healthcare or home healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed organization is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and change management skills.
