Job summary

Utah County Government is seeking a strategic Human Resources Director (Appointed) to provide comprehensive HR services, payroll, and benefits for ~1,200 employees. You will guide talent management, organizational change, and risk management while advising elected officials and department heads on complex HR matters.

The role requires a Master's degree and 7+ years of HR experience with supervisory responsibility; current CCP/PHR/SHRM certifications or ability to obtain within a year.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in HRM, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible HR experience, at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Current HR certification such as CCP, PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Direct talent management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, workforce planning, and risk management.
  • Oversee employee relations, investigations, corrective actions, and separations with fairness and legal defensibility.
  • Provide strategic advisory support to the County Commission and department heads on HR matters.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws, policy administration, and safety protocols.
  • Promote a culture of exceptional customer service and accountability.
