Director of Human Resources – Multi-Plant Manufacturing

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Direct Reports: 2 HR Assistants and 2 indirect reports

Environment: Non-Union Manufacturing Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions for two meat processing facilities with a combined workforce of 500 employees. This role requires a strong, operationally focused HR leader who can balance strategic planning with day‑to‑day HR execution in a fast‑paced, multi ethnic manufacturing environment.

The HR Director will be responsible for employee relations, compliance, labor management, recruiting, training, and HR systems, with limited administrative support. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who is adaptable, approachable, and comfortable working directly with front‑line employees and plant leadership in a non‑union environment.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
  • Model and promote a servant leadership philosophy. o Build trust with frontline employees, supervisors, and leadership teams.
  • Foster an adaptable HR function supporting operational needs. o Drive engagement, retention, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Employee Relations
  • Handle employee relations, investigations, discipline, and terminations. o Coach supervisors on effective people leadership and documentation. o Promote a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. o Manage audits, inquiries, and regulatory reporting.
  • Work with Safety Director on workers’ compensation and ensuring employee safety
  • Handle unemployment, DOL inquiries, FMLA/NE leave notices and programs.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development
  • Lead recruiting and hiring for hourly and salaried roles. o Develop onboarding, training, and retention programs. o Partner with operations on workforce planning.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems
  • Manage compensation and benefits programs.
  • Oversee HRIS and personnel records. o Develop HR policies and handbook updates.
Supervision
  • Direct and support HR Assistants across two plants. o Prioritize work effectively in a lean HR department.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7–12+ years of HR leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial environments. o Strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations. o Ability to work independently in a lean HR structure.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desired. o Demonstrated servant leadership and adaptability.

Preferred:

  • SHRM or PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments in Director role o Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desired.
