The Director of Human Resources will lead and oversee all HR functions for a manufacturing organization, partnering closely with executive leadership and plant operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing people strategies that support business goals, drive operational performance, and foster a strong, compliant, and engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to executive leadership and plant management
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business and operational goals
- Lead and mentor the HR team, setting clear priorities and performance expectations
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Oversee employee relations, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Manage labor relations as applicable, including union environments if relevant
Talent & Workforce Planning
- Oversee talent acquisition strategies for salaried, hourly, and leadership roles
- Partner with operations to support workforce planning, succession planning, and retention
- Drive performance management, coaching, and development initiatives
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Oversee compensation structures, benefits programs, and annual review cycles
- Manage HR policies, procedures, and HRIS systems
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to support data-driven decision-making
Culture & Engagement
- Promote a positive, accountable workplace culture focused on safety, performance, and continuous improvement
- Lead initiatives related to engagement, DEI, training, and leadership development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibility
- Manufacturing or industrial environment experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and HR best practices
- Proven ability to partner with operations and executive leadership
- Experience supporting hourly and salaried populations
Preferred Certifications
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification
