P&C Insurance seeks an experienced Human Resources Director in Essex County, NJ. This role leads policy development, compliance, and the talent strategy across the organization, partnering with leadership to align culture with hiring and retention goals.
Responsibilities include creating and implementing policies, overseeing benefits, leave, investigations, performance and talent management, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Create and put into action policies that ensure adherence to laws while fulfilling the organization's mission and talent strategy. Work alongside leadership and senior managers to grasp the organization's needs, objectives, and strategy relating to culture, which includes hiring, recruitment, and retention. Evaluate, create, and execute policies, processes, training programs, and surveys to address human resource requirements. Manage and supervise human resource initiatives, which cover compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary issues, conflicts, investigations, performance, talent management, productivity, recognition, and employee morale. Determine staffing and recruiting requirements, and develop and apply best practices for hiring and managing talent. Recruit, interview, employ, and integrate new staff. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices. Assess and adjust policies and procedures to uphold compliance. Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory updates, and advancements in human resources, talent management, and employment laws. Support employee professional growth, training, and certification endeavors. Aid in the annual performance review and evaluation processes. Address all employee relations issues in accordance with company policy.
Understanding and applying the relevant laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies is crucial. Working independently with a strong sense of initiative, discretion, and tact is essential. Experience in assisting managers with employee relations case management, including investigations, is important. The ability to effectively coach managers and employees across various levels throughout the employee life cycle, especially in more complex situations, is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Interpersonal skills must be excellent. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are key. Strong time management skills are important, along with a proven record of meeting deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related software is required. The ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems is also necessary. A bachelor’s degree is mandatory. Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred. ADP Payroll experience is also highly preferred. A PHR, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is advantageous. Experience in recruiting is important. Insurance experience is strongly preferred.
