Qualifications

Job description

The Opportunity

The Human Resources Business Partner – Arena Operations is an essential part of the Human Resources Team providing tactical and strategic HR partnership alongside the Sr. Director, People Operations in all things people & culture to their assigned departments.

This position champions an inclusion work culture and acts as a trusted advisor to mid and first-line management and generates data insights that directly impact their assigned departments. This position collaborates and works with the HR leadership team to enhance our HRBP model. A successful individual in this role drives high-impact results, motivates others and maintains a high bar for talent while fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and belonging.

In This Role You Will
  • Establish and maintain strong rapport and credibility with assigned departments by fostering open communication, understanding their unique needs and challenges, and consistently providing exceptional service, reliable guidance and support to drive organizational success.
  • In partnership with the Sr. Director, People Operations and Director, Talent Development manages the full employee life cycle including hiring, onboarding, development, performance management and offboarding for designated departments.
  • Builds and sustains strong talent pipelines to address current and future hiring needs by crafting tailored recruitment strategies for assigned departments, with an emphasis on attracting diverse top talent and delivering an exceptional experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive dashboards to provide actionable insights on key metrics such as workforce trends, talent acquisition, retention, etc. of assigned departments.
  • Proactively manage and resolve employee relations issues. Conducts, timely, effective, thorough and objective investigations. Partner with the Sr. Director, People Operations when necessary.
  • Conducts check-ins with individual contributions and first-line managers on a regular cadence and provides HR guidance when appropriate.
  • In partnership with the Director, Talent Development, provide performance management guidance to assigned roles and departments (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development).
  • In partnership with the Talent Development Department, identifies training needs for first-line managers and individual coaching needs.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the Sr. Director, People Operations to develop solutions and programs.
  • In partnership with the Sr. Director, People Operations, Talent Development Team and HRBP -Business Operations design and facilitate compliance trainings for individual contributors and people leaders
  • Lead HR projects and initiatives as determined by Sr. Director, People Operations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the Sr. Director, People Operations or VP, People & Culture as needed/required.
  • Assist with human resources communication, employee engagement and social media messaging and posting
  • Lead, coach, mentor and develop HR Assistant to become proficient at their job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The Experience You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Human Resources or related major
  • 7+ years of experience in human resources, including a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a business partner capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a strategic HR Business Partner model.
  • Broad understanding of all HR disciplines including talent acquisition, employee relations, talent development, workforce planning, benefits management, workers compensation, compensation and federal and state employment laws.
  • Experience in aligning and implementing human resources programs and processes to business strategy.
  • Proficient user of MS Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive and HRIS systems
  • Experience working with ICIMS, UKG and ABI strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator.
  • Excellent coaching, change management and conflict management skills
  • Confidence in interacting with and experience working as a trusted advisor to first line management
  • Strong business acumen with a keen aptitude to quickly assimilate new information
  • Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to quickly interpret data, identify trends and recommend multiple solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities with grace and efficiency
  • Strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand, interpret and act on information promptly and effectively.
  • Open and receptive to ongoing feedback aimed at improving performance.

Nice to Have

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential
  • Master’s degree from a four-year college or university in Human Resources or related major
  • Knowledge of sports and entertainment, specifically NBA basketball.
