The HR Business Partner supports specific functions within a company; they work closely with management and employees "on the front line," providing hands-on and strategic input, insight, and advice on people-related issues.

About the Role

The HR Business Partner plays an essential role in establishing and driving HR programs/talent initiatives forward within specific company functions, while always ensuring they align with a company's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with leadership to align HR strategy to business strategy.
  • Acts as change agent to business through process design and approaches that support change and transformation – striving to lead mutual process to best practice status.
  • Creates talent acquisition framework, actively ensuring efficient turn-around activity for all stakeholders.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to people managers (e.g., coaching, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Educate, coach, and partner with managers on performance management and employee development goals.
  • Ensures consistency and equity in disciplinary process.
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and staff in the areas of feedback, employee relations, development, and coaching.
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues, escalating as appropriate to VP of HR.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs, working closely with the VP of HR and Talent Development.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of action plans and training plans to ensure success; follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Partners with VP of Human Resources and appropriate leaders to grow the capacity of the organization’s key talent to include high potential identification and associated development programming, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience resolving employee relations issues preferred.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • SHRM or PHR Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Excellent project & time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
