Salary range: $20 - $28 / hr (based on experience)
The HR Assistant is responsible for managing the recruiting and day-to-day human resources operations in the facility. The HR Assistant supports HR policies and procedures and ensures compliance with those policies. They are involved in onboarding, orientation, benefits, leave requests, workers' compensation, employee relations, performance management, progressive discipline, and retention efforts. The HR Assistant performs facility Human Resources functions in accordance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing Human Resources activities within the facility.
- Promote the implementation of facility-sponsored retention programs; assist department heads in developing and implementing programs to improve staff engagement and retention.
- Participate in retention bonus programs where applicable.
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation, reviewing policies, procedures, employee handbook, benefits, and other relevant requirements.
- Input new hires into the payroll system and serve as the point of contact during the transition period.
- Develop and maintain good working rapport with other departments to meet Human Resources needs.
- Assist employees in enrolling in benefit programs and completing required forms for FMLA and leaves of absence, ensuring employees receive all notices and information.
- Act as liaison between management and employees, advising management on issues and concerns, and using tactful communication in sensitive situations.
- Create and maintain a positive, warm, and calm environment throughout the facility.
