Job summary

Cumberland County's Human Resources department seeks an Administrative HR Coordinator to support benefits, leave administration, and workers’ compensation processes. You will prepare claims documentation, maintain files, and coordinate with departments and insurance carriers for timely, confidential handling of HR tasks.

Requires a high school diploma and 2–3 years in an office setting; experience with HRIS (Infor/Lawson) and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in an office environment; HR experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; HRIS experience required; Infor/Lawson preferred.
  • Excellent confidentiality and administrative skills for benefits, leave and risk management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Enter LOA data into timekeeping system/HRIS and monitor employee time-off balances.
  • Track disability, workers’ compensation, and leave buyback programs; maintain records.
  • Process leave-related documents, communicate approvals/denials, and support payroll.
  • Maintain confidential medical records and assist with leave data entry and related paperwork.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and manage accounts payable/receivable for HR.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of administrative and support functions with accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness the efficient and effective operation of the department. Provides administrative support for county property and liability insurance, leave administration and workers’ compensation processes. Key responsibilities include preparing claims documentation, completing incident reports, maintaining files, and coordinating with departments and insurance carriers. This role also handles accounts payable functions, supports leave filing procedures, and assists with basic leave data entry and the creation of leave-related paperwork.

Essential Job Functions
  • Enter leave-of-absence (LOA) data into the time keeping system and/or HRIS accurately and monitor employee time-off balances.
  • Track short-term disability, long-term disability, workers’ compensation claims and leave buyback programs.
  • Maintain return-to-work clearances and ensure appropriate documentation is filed.
  • Prepare and issue required legal forms and documents related to leave administration.
  • Communicate leave approvals, denials, updates, and return-to-work information to supervisors, department heads, and payroll.
  • Maintain secure and confidential medical records for all employees.
  • Backup to payroll processing through preparation of biweekly leave reports, reviewing timekeeping leave coding.
  • Process and track personnel actions related to employee status changes and leave buyback programs.
  • Manage and maintain files related to property, liability, and automobile insurance claims.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of incident reports and accident investigations for work-related and third-party liability events.
  • Monitor the progress of claims and provide regular status updates to departments and relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison to the County’s workers’ compensation insurance carrier for claim coordination and updates.
  • Manages accounts payable/receivable processes for the human resources department.
  • Process auto reimbursements and annual sick leave and disability options.
  • Collect and verify tuition reimbursement for processing.
  • Participates in relevant meetings, trainings, and seminars as required.
  • Provides support to employee benefit inquiries and requests.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education
Minimum Requirements to Perform the Work:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in an office environment; experience in a Human Resources office environment is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is required; familiarity with Infor/Lawson is preferred.
  • Experience with leave management, preferred.
