City of Redwood City seeks entry-level and journey-level Human Resources Analysts I and II to support recruitment, classification and compensation, DEI initiatives, and benefits administration across city departments.

Human Resources Analyst I: This is the entry level class in the professional and confidential Human Resources Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the Human Resources Analyst II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Receives immediate supervision from higher level professional management staff.
Human Resources Analyst II: This is the full journey-level class within the professional confidential Human Resources Analyst series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Human Resources Analyst I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, including working independently to develop, plan and implement projects and programs related to areas of assignment. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
This class is distinguished from the Senior Human Resources Analyst class in that the latter exercises supervision over one or more program areas and performs more complex and responsible assignments.
Work on a variety of human resources program areas, which may include recruitment and selection; classification and compensation; training; benefit administration; leave management; performance management; employee relations; labor relations; occupational safety; workers’ compensation; HRIS systems; or diversity, equity and inclusion.
The HR Analyst I/II will primarily be assigned to support Recruitment, Pre-Employment Backgrounding, Classification and Compensation, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion program (DEI) areas, which would include the following:

Experience
Human Resources Analyst I: Two years of paraprofessional experience in human resources equivalent to that of a Human Resources Technician.
Human Resources Analyst II:Two years of professional experience as a human resources generalist equivalent to that of a Human Resources Analyst I
Training:
Equivalent to completion of four years of college or possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, business administration, public administration or a related field. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for two years of education on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses & Certificates
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
