HR Administrator

The HR Administrator is responsible for supporting and executing core human resources functions in a small company environment. This role focuses on payroll processing, 401(k) and benefits administration, recruiting support, and oversight of administrative office personnel. The ideal candidate has a high standard of ethics, is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple HR functions with accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
  • Process and manage payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, and tax filings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Coordinate with external payroll providers as needed
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries
  • Administer the company’s 401(k) plan, including enrollments, changes, and distributions
  • Ensure compliance with plan requirements and regulatory guidelines
  • Coordinate with plan providers, auditors, and advisors
  • Assist employees with questions regarding retirement benefits
Employee Benefits Coordination
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and other offerings
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes and employee communications
  • Liaise with benefits providers and brokers
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure timely updates
  • Assist employees with benefits-related questions and claims issues
  • Track employee benefit time off
HR Compliance & Recordkeeping
  • Maintain employee records in accordance with legal requirements
  • Support compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Assist in developing and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Managing FMLA, disability and other employee paperwork
  • Assist with job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
  • Participation in career fair/expos, interview process
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation
Office Administration Oversight
  • Supervise and support administrative office personnel
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day office operations
  • Assist leadership with general administrative and operational needs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or administrative role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and benefits administration
  • Familiarity with 401(k) plan administration and compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting recruiting and onboarding processes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Small company setting requiring flexibility and collaboration
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs
  • In office work environment
