The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Statewide Administrative Services, is looking for a Human Resource Technician 3 (Payroll Lead) to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Pay is based on the location of the selected applicant; questions regarding the salary may be addressed at the time of interview.

Anchorage: $29.54 hourly (OT Eligible)

Juneau: $31.02 hourly (OT Eligible)

What you will be doing:

Our team is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing, certification, review, and audit of payroll and personnel actions for the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). Under the general supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, this position serves as a lead technical resource for payroll and personnel administration. You will review and certify payroll, personnel, and leave transactions; audit records and resolve discrepancies; and ensure actions comply with applicable Personnel Rules, collective bargaining agreements, statutes, regulations, departmental policies, and established procedures. You will also provide guidance and technical support to team members, managers, and employees, and assist with researching and resolving complex or sensitive payroll and personnel issues.

The working environment you can expect:

This position may be located in either Anchorage or Juneau.

Our Anchorage office is located in a central location with convenient access to nearby restaurants, shopping, and services. Our Juneau office is located next to SEARHC and near DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, with plenty of parking and views of the channel.

Wherever located, you will be part of a department that supports Alaska’s unique and diverse transportation system, helping provide the services needed to keep communities connected across the state. In-state telework options are available if approved by the supervisor.

One year of journey technical level human resource experience. This is equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution: One year of technical level dispatching experience as an Alaska Marine Highway System Dispatcher with the State of Alaska.

OR Two years of postsecondary education (64 semester hours or 96 quarter hours equal 2 years) from an accredited college or university in any field.

OR Two years in any combination of postsecondary education (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month) from an accredited college or university and human resources experience at the journey technical level. This experience is equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR Two years in any combination of postsecondary education (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month) from an accredited college or university and technical level dispatching experience. This experience is equivalent to an Alaska Marine Highway System Dispatcher with the State of Alaska.
