This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Service is recruiting for a Human Resource Technician 2 located in Juneau, Alaska!
What You Will Be Doing: Join the Department of Fish & Game's (DFG) Human Resource team to provide guidance and support DFG's staff. Under the general direction of the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP), this position provides journey level human resource technical assistance to DFG managers, supervisors, and employees. You’ll join a collaborative HR team that values strong partnerships, problem solving, and service to our uniquely diverse workforce. Your work will help keep DFG running smoothly and ensure our employees are hired and supported. In this position, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in human resource, building both knowledge and practical skills in recruitment. This Human Resource Technician (HRT) 2 provides technical support assisting with DFG`s Recruitment, providing accurate human resource information to hiring managers and employees of Fish & Game.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: This position is in Juneau at DFG Headquarters, located on the Juneau Downtown Boardwalk and Gastineau Channel Waterfront. This facility is in the heart of downtown with ample amenities nearby. ADF&G supports work‑life balance by offering a hybrid in‑office and telework scheduling after a successful training period. Working hours can be flexibly scheduled between the standard operating hours, Monday‑Friday. Work is conducted independently, but with support and general supervision from the Human Resource Business Partner and guidance from the HR Recruitment team.
Who We Are Looking For: We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
Special Note: Valid driver`s license is preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution: Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
Substitution: One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
Special Note: High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university. "Human resource" work includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.
