As a Human Resource Technician 2 on the Learning & Development team, you'll help keep our statewide Learning & Performance programs running smoothly. You'll report directly to the Human Resource Consultant 3 and work closely with the Learning & Development Manager and another Human Resource Technician 2.
You don't need to come in knowing our systems or processes – we'll teach you those. What we're looking for is someone who enjoys helping people, pays attention to the details, is comfortable learning new technology, and has a can-do approach to solving problems.
AspireAlaska is our statewide learning and performance management system, and you'll help employees and supervisors use it successfully. You'll respond to help desk tickets, answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and assist with training and performance-related tasks. That might mean responding to an email, answering an instant message, or jumping on a quick virtual call to help someone work through a problem.
You'll help with the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our programs moving – setting up performance tasks, supporting evaluation cycles, assisting with training administration, creating certificates, managing records, and helping with office hours and other Learning & Development activities. You'll also work with the Human Resource Consultant 3 and Learning & Development Manager to find ways to simplify processes, reduce unnecessary steps, and make things work better.
Some tasks will be routine or repetitive, and that's okay. The details matter, and we need someone who can stay organized, follow through, and take pride in getting things right. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who sees a problem and thinks: "Let's figure it out."
If you enjoy helping people, learning new things, solving problems, and being someone others can count on, we'd like to hear from you.
The Learning & Development Program is the State of Alaska's hub for professional growth – a small, close-knit team with a statewide reach and a big mission: to develop supervisors and employees who lead with integrity, treat people well, and do great work on behalf of Alaskans. We believe that how people are led matters, and we take that seriously. Our culture is collaborative, creative, and deeply human – we push each other to be better, we laugh a lot, and we genuinely care about the work we do and the people we do it with.
Your work will directly help employees and supervisors across Alaska navigate learning and performance processes. When you solve a problem or make a process easier, you're making someone's workday a little better.
We're a small, collaborative team that believes in helping each other, sharing what we know, and figuring things out together. You'll work in tandem with another Human Resource Technician 2 and alongside the Human Resource Consultant 3 and Learning & Development Manager.
You don't need to know AspireAlaska or our processes when you walk through the door. We'll teach you. You'll have opportunities to build your skills in learning systems, performance management, customer service, and process improvement.
No two days are exactly alike. You might be troubleshooting a help desk ticket in the morning, helping with a training in the afternoon, and figuring out how to make an administrative process more efficient the next day.
A hybrid schedule designed around productivity, collaboration, and getting the work done – while giving you flexibility in how you work.
We work hard, but we also believe people do their best work when they have time to recharge. We want you to be successful at work without having work consume your life.
If you're based in Anchorage or the surrounding communities, you'll have access to workspace in the Atwood Building. If you're based in Juneau, you'll have access to workspace in the State Office Building. And if you're hired from outside of Anchorage or Juneau? There may be an opportunity for 100% telework provided you have a stable internet connection. Wherever you're working, you'll be part of a collaborative team that values communication, connection, and getting the work done.
The Learning & Development team currently works in a hybrid environment based on each individuals needs that balances flexibility with connection. We stay closely connected through Microsoft Teams, whether we're working together in person or from our home offices.
