City of DeFuniak Springs is seeking an administrative support specialist to assist the Human Resources division. The role requires handling routine to confidential tasks with independence within city policies and procedures, representing the department professionally to staff and the public.
Responsibilities include clerical duties, calendar management, form creation, correspondence, and responding to public records requests while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, performs routine, specialized, and confidential administrative tasks to support the effective and efficient operations of the City’s human resources division. Works with considerable independence within established policies and procedures. Requires discretion and diplomatic skill in representing policies and working effectively with City personnel, officials, and the public.
Provides clerical and administrative support to human resources and assists with the daily functions, including but not limited to routine office tasks, creating forms, reports, and other documents as requested, preparing and maintaining the calendar for department operations, distributing mail, ordering supplies and equipment, drafting letters and memos, processing department correspondence, answering and routing telephone calls, greeting visitors, and responding to inquiries and public records requests for the department. Required Qualification(s): Graduation from a standard high school or GED obtained. A progressively demonstrated skill of at least three (3) years’ experience in human resources or a related field. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs. Requires a valid driver's license. Preferred/Desirable Qualification(s): An Associate’s Degree with courses in human resources, business, or a related field. Prior governmental experience. Dealing with confidential matters. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
