Job summary

HBK, part of Spectris, seeks a Senior C++ Software Engineer to join its Durability Centre of Excellence in the UK, designing, developing and optimizing high-quality C++ software with Qt in a fast-moving, agile environment.

You will lead code reviews, mentor juniors, work cross-functionally across Windows and Linux, and contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices. Strong knowledge of multithreaded C++, OO design, and secure coding is required.

Qualifications

• Proven delivery of software in a complex environment using Qt.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing high-quality software solutions in C++. • Excellent college or university degree (master's/diploma/doctorate) in Computer Science or equivalent, demonstrating excellent analytical and conceptual skills / mindset.
• Proven successful delivery of working software in a complex working environment using Qt framework.
• Ability to apply AI assisted development (e.g. using Co-Pilot, Agentic Development).
• A good working knowledge of secure coding practices.
• Prior experience of mechanical engineering, vibration or fatigue analysis and signal processing would be an advantage but is not required.
• Proficient professional software development experience with multithreaded application C++ (C++11/14/17 or later).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with cross-platform development (Windows and Linux).
• Ability to apply knowledge of Git, CMake and CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Experience working in SAFE, Agile, and / or Scrum teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Highly flexible, accountable, and takes ownership.
• A team player with the ability to support cross team collaboration.
• A track record of seizing opportunities to apply new technologies such as AI Support, actively promote and champion the HBK values.
