Job description

ABOUT THE COMPANY

At RS, we are redefining how the world builds reliable energy infrastructure. We design and manufacture advanced composite utility poles that are lighter, stronger, and longer-lasting than traditional materials such as wood, steel, and concrete. Our poles are engineered for superior performance in the most demanding environments, providing utilities with a durable, low-maintenance, and sustainable solution for a more resilient grid.

With operations in North America and customers across 30+ countries, RS is a leader in grid resilience, driven by our values of Safety, Respect, Resilience, and Teamwork.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for an HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team and help support the continued growth and development of our HR function.

In this role, you'll work closely with the HR Manager across a broad range of HR responsibilities, including the employee lifecycle, HR systems, policies and processes, benefits and leave administration, compliance, reporting, and HR initiatives.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both the day-to-day work of HR and the opportunity to help build and improve how HR operates. You'll take ownership of assigned responsibilities and help create consistent processes and experiences across the organization.

The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating conflict with professionalism, takes time to thoughtfully evaluate situations before making decisions, and thrives in an environment of change and variety. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, a highly precise and quality-focused approach to work, and the ability to respectfully challenge assumptions while maintaining strong working relationships. Success in this position comes from maintaining high standards, exercising sound judgment, and approaching work with discipline, accuracy, and technical expertise.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
  • Support the employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, employee changes, transfers, promotions, leaves, and offboarding.
  • Manage new hire onboarding and orientation, coordinating pre-employment requirements, documentation, system updates, and communication with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Process and coordinate employee changes and ensure required HRIS, payroll, benefits, IT, and other updates are completed accurately and timely.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors regarding HR programs, policies, processes, and systems.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, documentation, and HR files while ensuring appropriate confidentiality and compliance.
  • Assist with employee communications and other day-to-day HR activities as needed.
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
  • Support the HR Manager with HRIS administration, optimization, and implementation initiatives.
  • Manage assigned HRIS processes and employee data changes while maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist with system testing, data validation, process documentation, training, and implementation activities.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc HR reports and assist with analyzing data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, or automate HR processes through technology.
Policies, Processes & Compliance
  • Assist with researching, drafting, updating, and implementing HR policies, SOPs, guidelines, templates, and processes.
  • Research HR and employment-related topics, evaluate information, and bring forward thoughtful recommendations.
  • Support required employee training, and other HR compliance activities.
  • Help maintain consistent HR processes and practices.
  • Maintain organized HR documentation, resources, and process materials to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
Benefits & Leave
  • Support the administration of employee benefit and leave programs, including employee communications, documentation, tracking, system updates, and follow-through.
  • Serve as a resource for employee benefit and leave questions and coordinate with vendors and internal partners as needed.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment, benefit communications, system testing, and ongoing program administration.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve benefit and leave processes and employee experience.
HR Partnership
  • Build strong working relationships with employees, leaders, HR colleagues, and cross-functional partners across the organization.
  • Collaborate with other plant and corporate HR teams to share knowledge, resources, and best practices and support consistent company-wide HR processes.
  • Communicate proactively, share information, and contribute to a collaborative and aligned HR team.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or related field required.
  • 4–6 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a Generalist role.
  • Broad working knowledge across the employee lifecycle, HRIS, benefits, leave administration, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, works autonomously, and takes ownership with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Ability to take an assignment, determine what needs to be done, ask the right questions, and drive work through completion.
  • Solutions-oriented thinkers with the ability to research issues, assess options, and bring forward thoughtful recommendations.
  • Strong organization, and prioritization skills with demonstrated follow-through and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong judgment, communication, and attention to detail, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing organization; HRIS implementation or optimization experience preferred.
  • Professional HR certification through SHRM, HRCI, or a similar recognized organization preferred.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Retirement savings plans with company contributions.
  • Employer-paid life and short-term disability insurance.
  • Optional additional coverage (life, long-term disability).
  • Generous paid time off and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Opportunities for growth and development within a global, forward-thinking company.
  • For an HR Generalist role in a manufacturing environment, the physical requirements should focus more on office, employee interaction, and occasional plant-floor activities rather than frequent manual labor:
Physical Requirements
  • The physical requirements listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing areas to support employees, conduct meetings, investigations, training sessions, and workplace observations.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting as required to handle files, office supplies, training materials, or employee documentation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production or warehouse areas and work safely within the assigned environment.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Regular interaction with employees, supervisors, and management across office and production areas.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing operations, including noise, heat, humidity, and varying temperatures while conducting plant-floor activities.
  • Limited exposure to production materials and manufacturing chemicals while following all required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • May be required to travel between facilities or attend off-site meetings, training sessions, or recruitment events as needed.
