Job summary

NewView Oklahoma, Inc. is seeking a Human Resource Generalist in Oklahoma City to handle full-cycle recruitment and serve as a backup for payroll and benefits.

This role supports onboarding, internal engagement events, and daily HR service delivery for a mission-driven nonprofit focused on empowering blind and low-vision individuals. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 2 years of HR Generalist experience with recruiting/payroll, or 5 years of HR Generalist experience in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of ADP or other HRIS software, including payroll and benefits modules.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of labor laws, wage/hour, payroll, benefits regulations, EEOC and related HR regulations.
• Efficient in HR administration with strong verbal and written communication.
• Able to meet deadlines and coordinate employee events; strong people management and conflict resolution skills.

Position Summary: Provides HR support with a strong focus on full-cycle recruitment, and serves as backup for payroll processing and benefits administration. Embodies a servant-HR approach by supporting employees through onboarding, internal engagement events, and day-to-day HR service delivery. Assists with the AbilityOne Individualized Eye Exam (IEE) process and related eligibility documentation for blind and low vision direct labor positions. Submits accurate and timely filing of federal and state regulatory compliance reports and supports employee relations, engagement, and reward and recognition programs.

Essential duties and responsibilities (3-5 core functions representing 80% of time spent):

• Leads full-cycle recruitment, including job fairs, job postings, sourcing, candidate interviews and selection, reference and background checks, offers, and onboarding, ensuring completion of all company and legal new-hire documentation.
• Performs new employee orientation for all newly hired employees, including scheduling orientation dates, conducting orientation, and updating and implementing changes in collaboration with the HR team. Ensures all orientation records are updated in ADP.
• Serves as primary backup for payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees, accurately applying all wage and hour related laws and regulations.
• Serves as primary backup for benefits enrollment and administration, assisting employees with enrollment, qualifying life events, and carrier coordination.
• Assists in the management of the ADP database system by entering critical employee information, ensuring accuracy. Runs reports related to applicant tracking, employee demographics, wages, benefits, and time and attendance.
• Manages the annual mandatory training process. Ensures all annual training is sent out through ADP or other data distribution software and that all employees complete required training, with records confirming completion.
• Tracks and maintains all employee and employment related records, ensuring compliance with all federal and state equal opportunity statutes and compliance with all DOL, OFCCP, and AbilityOne regulations.
• Assists the VP of Human Capital with all federal and state reports such as the EEO-1, Affinitive Action Plan, OSHA Form 300, and Form 5500.
• Ensures proper documentation for short- and long-term disability requests, Worker’s Comp claims, and the annual competitive review for blind and low vision employees.
• Supports the AbilityOne Individualized Eye Exam (IEE) process, including coordinating exams, maintaining eligibility documentation, and assisting with recordkeeping for employee eligibility determinations for blind and low vision direct labor positions.
• Champions a servant-HR approach to the employee experience by planning and supporting internal engagement events—such as employee lunches, employee appreciation, the annual holiday event, summer sports events, and disability awareness events—and other internal planning functions. Assists in the development and administration of the employee reward and recognition program, keeping it current and relevant.
• Assists in the investigation of employee complaints, performance development, and corrective actions.
• In collaboration with the HR team, participates in developing policies, procedures, organizational guidelines, and practices around all aspects of human resources.

Qualifications (Minimum education, experience, training, licensure, certification):

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 2 years of experience as an HR Generalist with an emphasis on recruiting and/or payroll; or 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist in lieu of a degree.
• Must have knowledge of ADP or other HRIS software, including payroll and benefits modules.
• Must be detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects and initiatives.
• Must possess knowledge and understanding of labor laws, wage and hour, payroll, and benefits regulations, EEOC, and other regulations pertaining to human resources.
• Must be efficient in HR administration processes, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to meet deadlines, plan and coordinate employee events, and demonstrate strong people management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills reflecting a service-minded approach to HR.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Nonprofit experience strongly preferred; experience with an AbilityOne-affiliated nonprofit, or an organization that hires individuals who are blind or low vision, is a plus.
• Familiarity with AbilityOne direct labor ratio requirements preferred.
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
