The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting and administrating a wide range of functions, including payroll, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefit administration, regulatory compliance, company training, and employee documentation. This role will serve as a resource for employees and management, support and grow company culture, create a positive working environment and ensure legal and regulatory compliance. This role will work in cooperation with the human resource team providing HR support to strategically align human capital needs, expand business opportunities and assist in future company growth. In reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, you will play a key role in the development of our company’s strategic people initiatives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Utilize and support the HRIS system for employee information and payroll processing
- Ensure timekeeping administration with supervisors/managers and employees is properly utilized
- Support timely execution of payroll processing deadlines and payroll documentation.
- Maintain payroll compliance and communication with employees and supervisors
Recruitment and Staffing
- Conduct new hire orientations, onboarding and completion of required documentation
- Prepare all onboarding details and documentation for new employees
- Partner with HR staff, company leadership and supervisors/managers to identify staffing needs
- Coordinate job postings, candidate screenings, interviews and selection within the recruitment process
Benefits and Compensation
- Assist in the development and administration of company benefit programs
- Assist in the data collection and tracking of employee benefit selections and cost analysis
- Assist in the benefit enrollment process and provide ongoing employee benefit support
- Support the administration of company compensation programs, annual review processes and administration of these programs
Compliance and Policy
- Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations
- Maintain employee records are accurately maintained and ensure confidentiality
- Assist in ongoing development of HR policy and procedures ensuring proper documentation and retention
- Support necessary compliance audits and reporting requirements
Employee Relations
- Promote a positive workplace culture that drives employee retention and accountability
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns
- Serve as a primary resource for employee relations, counseling and conflict resolution
- Lead and support necessary investigations related to employee complaints or policy violations
- Ensure employee discussion, investigations and disciplinary actions are properly documented.
- Assist in the support of employee development and employee training programs
Human Resource Administration
- Maintain HRIS system support, controls and employee records
- Assist in the development of HR reports and workforce data and analytics
- Assist with special projects, company initiatives and company functions
- Additional projects as directed by the Vice President of Human Resources
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Benefit Administration or related field
- Qualified equivalent education and/or experience in lieu of educational requirements
- 3-5 or more years’ experience in human resources, people management and administration
- Proven experience in HRIS systems and administration
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a team setting and one-on-one meetings.
- Strong negotiating and decision-making skills
- Technical and computer related skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry software
- Knowledge and experience in recruiting, team development practices, and HR compliance
