Job summary

bp is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OMS sub elements focused on incident management and organizational learning within US Fleet & Mobility. The role involves embedding OMS requirements, setting minimum expectations, and ensuring regulatory and BP requirements are met through effective leadership and conformance efforts.

You will drive the OMS Performance Improvement Cycle, establish global standards, support investigations, and coordinate learning to drive continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Drive delivery of the OMS Performance Improvement Cycle (PIC) and support leaders on action plans to achieve OMS conformance
  • Set global performance standards and indicators for OMS SEs and maintain LOms content
  • Support incident investigation and human performance capability within US Fleet & Mobility
  • Identify guidelines and findings across US Fleet & Mobility to ensure consistency
  • Promote the 5-step organizational learning process for opportunities to learn
  • Develop and maintain OMS SE risk barriers, self-verification protocols and processes
  • Analyze trends and create proactive action plans from audits, incidents, metrics
  • Monitor OMS conformance and assist with compliance to LOMS and BP GDPs
  • Be bp's key contact with other bp teams and external parties for investigations and learning
  • Develop indicators for investigation, learning and OMS elements
  • Create plans, policies and tools for investigation, learning and human performance
  • Lead the learning forum to share and adopt learning
  • Support Self-verification programme based on incidents and findings

About the role

Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OMS sub element (SE) 4.4 Incident Management and OMS SE 2.4 Organizational Learning.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and support to ensure that OMS requirements are effectively embedded within US Fleet & Mobility to support detailed and effective management of risk.
  • Develop clear, understandable and deliverable OMS minimum expectations.
  • Provide expertise to support the business and effectively meet regulatory, legislative and BP requirements.
  • Set performance standards for OMS SEs and support the business to meet HSE&C performance targets and delivery of OMS conformance.
  • Verifies compliance with relevant OMS SEs, Group Essentials and BP GDPs.
  • Intervene and call out as appropriate to cause corrective action when HSE performance and/or OMS conformance is not at desired levels.
  • Contributes to the delivery of the global HSE&C strategy, policies and programs
  • Provides leadership and influence to ensure that investigation and learningprocesses within US Fleet & Mobility are identified and handled to drive continuous improvement.
What you will deliver (responsibilities)
  • Drive delivery of the OMS Performance Improvement Cycle (PIC) and support leaders on implementation of action plans to achieve and maintain OMS conformance.
  • Drive consistency by setting global performance standards and indicators for OMS SEs, providing guidance within US Fleet & Mobility as to “what good looks like” and maintaining relevant content in the Local OMS (LOMS).
  • Supports incident investigation and human performance capability of roles within US Fleet & Mobility, including the development and delivery of relevant OMS training, interventions and materials.
  • Identifies and shares guidelines and findings across US Fleet & Mobility influencing the business to ensure consistency.
  • Drive the use of the 5-step organizational learning process to manage opportunities to learn.
  • Provides input or approves deviations from the US Fleet & Mobility local operating management system (LOMS).
  • Develops and maintains designated OMS SE risk barriers, self-verification protocols and processes
  • Analyses trends, provides feedback and creates proactive action plans based on self-verification, audits, incidents, observations, leading and lagging metrics etc.
  • Monitors OMS conformance (for designated SE) and assists with compliance to the US Fleet & Mobility LOMS, BP GDPs, and local policies/procedures and supports closure of actions.
  • US Fleet & Mobility’s key point of contact with other bp teams (e.g. Central HSE&C, SME, relevant networks), external parties and stakeholders with respect to investigations, learning and human performance to ensure alignment with bp requirements and enable external benchmarking of best practice.
  • Develops and defines indicators for investigation, learning and other designated OMS elements that will allow self-verification of conformance with OMS
  • Develops and maintains specific plans, policies, processes, systems and tools (with respect to investigation, learning and human performance) to enable appropriate implementation in US Fleet & Mobility.
  • Establishes, maintains and leads the US Fleet & Mobility learning forum to ensure effective sharing and adoption of learning.
  • Supports the application of the US Fleet & Mobility Self-verification programme based on the trends from incidents and findings.
What you will need to be successful (experience, job requirements & qualifications)
Education

Proven experience in health, safety, environmental or sustainability or operational roles with substantial relevant accountabilities; asset operations and maintenance.

Understanding of Human Factors in operations, incidents and learning

Skills & Competencies
  • Deep knowledge on health, safety, environmental or sustainability management systems within an international brand marketing business environment, including knowledge of the external driven environment.
  • Understanding of Human Factors in operations, incidents and learning.
  • Proven ability to think both operationally and strategically.
  • Digital tool experience and competent use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Power BI, Excel, Word, etc.) and ability to navigate different platforms desirable.
  • Ability to translate technical knowledge into pragmatic fit for purpose advice and support
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills and fluent in English
  • Uses a range of styles to influence and gain enrolment in a variety of situations.

How much do we pay (Base)?

($67,000 - $100,000 (Minimum & Maximum)) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for US Benefits Select. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
