Job summary

BP plc is seeking a Transformation Specialist to shape and perform the Mobility & Convenience Americas strategy. The role delivers analytical insights, structured problem solving, and hands-on support for strategic initiatives across cross-functional teams in a hybrid work model from Chicago, IL.

Relevant finance and market experience, coupled with energy sector exposure, is valued. The position supports leadership with roadmaps, performance tracking, and high-quality presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification (MBA beneficial but not required)
  • Experience in strategy, business analysis, or consulting-related roles (preferably in top-tier consulting, private equity, or investment banking) is required.
  • Exposure to the Oil & Gas or broader energy sector (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Strategy development support: Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of the M&A strategy by conducting structured analyses, preparing summaries of insights, and supporting the evaluation of strategic options aligned with bp's Customers strategy and low-carbon ambitions.
  • Transformation initiative delivery: Support the delivery of strategic and transformation initiatives across M&A by assisting with workstream coordination, tracking milestones, preparing materials, and helping ensure timely, accurate outputs.
  • Analytical support and insight generation: Complete targeted analyses on market trends, customer behavior, competitive activity, financial performance, and regulatory developments to help inform strategic recommendations and business decisions.
  • Structured problem solving: Assist in breaking down complex strategic questions into clear components, developing initial hypotheses, gathering relevant facts, and preparing data-backed recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Strategy execution support: Help translate strategic priorities into actionable plans by developing draft roadmaps, tracking performance metrics, and supporting teams as they move from planning to implementation.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Work collaboratively with teams across Products, Operations, Finance, Digital, Policy, and Sustainability to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure strategic activities are aligned and practical.

Partnering closely with leadership and cross‑functional teams, the specialist helps turn strategic priorities into clear, actionable plans.

Key Accountabilities:

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification (MBA beneficial but not required)
  • 3–7 years of post‑university work experience.
  • Experience in strategy, business analysis, or consulting‑related roles (preferably in top‑tier consulting, private equity, or investment banking firms) is required.
  • Exposure to the Oil & Gas or broader energy sector (preferred).
  • Experience or familiarity with retail, mobility, or convenience industries (advantageous).

How much do we pay (Base)?

$100,000 - $186,000 *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

Benefits
  • This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees).
  • You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
