Job description

The Genetics Division is recruiting for an Assistant or Associate Professor.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care – Provide safe, effective and compassionate patient care commensurate with the level of advancement and clinical specialty. Develop a local and regional recognition by peers and patients as an authority in the field. Develop a local or regional referral base for subspecialty services. Implement innovative approaches to patient care. Provide disease‑specific expert consultation relative to area of specialty. Examine patients, coordinate services, perform procedures, collect and analyze data, and make decisions regarding patient care, including screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. Formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify patient‑specific plans for care, treatment and rehabilitation. Promote ongoing patient‑care outcomes.
  • Teaching and Training – Teach and supervise patient care of assigned medical students, residents and fellows. Monitor medical care to ensure safety and effectiveness. Provide recognition as an excellent teacher, mentor, and consultant. Deliver lectures and bedside teaching in the Division and participate in all divisional and departmental educational activities. Maintain currency in field through continuing education and seminars.
  • Service and/or Administration – Participate in service and/or administration activities including program development for patient care or education, leadership of learning divisions, performance‑improvement programs, and committee service. Provide faculty coverage and fully engage in divisional activities. Promote teamwork, implement long‑ and short‑term goals, and complete evaluations for students, residents and peers.
  • Scholarly Activity – Conduct clinical research, including investigations, trials, and reviews. Publish findings in a timely manner. Present findings internally. Design and evaluate treatment efficacy, recommend improvements, collect data, develop processes, and communicate results. Assist in obtaining external funding for research and teaching programs.

  • Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine OR equivalent
  • Unrestricted licensed physician

  • Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on departmental needs
  • Preferred: Board certification
